Canadian Brooke Henderson won the 13th LPGA title of her career on Sunday with a four-shot win at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions.
Henderson battled in the final round, shooting a two-under 70 which kept her four shots clear of Sweden’s Maja Stark and England’s Charley Hull.
The Tournament of Champions at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club in Orlando, Fla., was the opening tournament of the LPGA season. It was also Henderson’s first tournament with new TaylorMade clubs and her first event back since spending the off-season rehabbing a back injury.
Not a bad way to announce you’re back in form.
The 25-year-old’s victory was her first on the LPGA tour since last July when she won the Evian Championship by one shot.
It was also just the third time in her career that she won a tournament after leading wire-to-wire, with the other two coming in 2016 at the Portland Classic and in 2019 at the Meijer LPGA Classic.
Her round of 70 on Sunday was Henderson’s worst of the event, with her best coming in the second round when she fired a six-under 66.
Henderson’s opening nine of the final round was highlighted by a big birdie on the ninth, giving her some momentum at the turn.
For the final nine holes, Henderson avoided the big mistakes and made a clutch birdie putt on the 15th to help her close out the tournament.
Henderson had just one bogey on Sunday which came on the par-3 sixth.
