Raptors’ Poeltl out indefinitely with ankle sprain, to be re-evaluated in two weeks

Toronto Raptors centre Jakob Poeltl will be out indefinitely with a left ankle sprain and will be re-evaluated in two weeks, the team announced Tuesday.

In the Raptors’ 133-118 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Sunday, Poeltl rolled his ankle but remained in the game, contributing 14 points, 11 rebounds and five assists over 31 minutes.

The 28-year-old has averaged 10.6 points, 2.5 assists and 8.3 rebounds over 36 games this season.

The Raptors acquired Poeltl at last year’s NBA trade deadline for Khem Birch, one first-round draft pick (2024) and two second-round draft picks (2023/2025).

Toronto is 15-21 overall, but is 3-1 in its last four games since making the blockbuster OG Anunoby trade with the New York Knicks.

The new-look Raptors take on LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night in the first of back-to-back matchups against the two L.A.-based teams.
