Titans rookie quarterback Will Levis returns from injury, to start vs. Texans

The Tennessee Titans will get their rookie quarterback for Sunday as Will Levis is set to return from his injury and start in the divisional rematch against the Houston Texans, coach Mike Vrabel announced Friday afternoon.

Levis, who missed last week’s loss against the Seahawks after suffering a high-ankle sprain late in an overtime loss to the Texans in Week 15, had been showing positive progression after returning to practice on Wednesday.

Ryan Tannehill, who replaced Levis last week in a loss to the Seahawks and completed 18 of his 26 passes for 152 yards, has moved back to the bench. His starting record for the season fell to 2-5.

Since permanently taking over the starting position from Tannehill on Nov. 7, the second-round rookie has impressed, tossing nearly 1,800 yards, with eight passing touchdowns, one rushing touchdown and four interceptions.

The rematch between the Titans and Texans will feature both starting quarterbacks, as C.J. Stroud recently cleared concussion protocol and is also in-line to start. The game is crucial for the Texans, as a win keeps them in contention for both the playoffs and the AFC South.
