Reports: NFL determines Bengals, Burrow were in compliance with injury policy

The NFL has determined that the Cincinnati Bengals were in full compliance of the injury policies after launching an investigation into why the team failed to list quarterback Joe Burrow on the injury report, despite posting a video that appeared to show Burrow with a wrap around his wrist.

CBS News’ Jonathan Jones was the first to report the story.

Burrow suffered a season-ending wrist injury in November during a Thursday night matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. He asserted that the wrap seen in the video was a compression sleeve and that it was unrelated to the wrist injury he suffered during the game.

“This is a completely different thing,” Burrow said at the time. “It’s not uncommon for guys to wear compression sleeves on planes because when you go up to that altitude, you know, things can swell up. In football, you have a lot of bumps and bruises. This is a completely new injury.”

Teams can be fined or lose a draft pick if found to be in violation of the NFL’s injury policy.

Burrow underwent surgery on his right wrist on Nov. 27 to repair the torn ligament. He returned to Cincinnati to begin the rehabilitation process and is expected to make a full recovery.
