Report: Cavaliers’ Garland to miss several weeks due to fractured jaw

The Cleveland Cavaliers are going to be without star guard Darius Garland for an extended period as he recovers from a fractured jaw, according to The Athletic‘s Shams Charania on Friday.

Garland suffered the injury during a collision with the Boston Celtics’ Kristaps Porzingis on Thursday night in the Cavaliers’ 116-107 loss.

This is the latest in an injury-riddled season for Cleveland. Both of the Cavs star guards, Garland and Donovan Mitchell, have missed five games already while dealing with hamstring strains. Meanwhile, third-year forward Evan Mobley hasn’t played in four consecutive games while recovering from a knee injury.

Through 20 games this season, Garland is averaging 20.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 34 minutes of action.

This 13-12 Cavaliers will return to action without Garland on Saturday as they’ll look to snap a two-game losing skid when taking on the Atlanta Hawks.
