Nuggets’ Gordon out indefinitely after dog bite on Christmas Day

Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon will be out indefinitely as he recovers from face and hand lacerations caused by a dog bite on Christmas Day, the team announced Wednesday.

Gordon and the defending champion Nuggets played against the Golden State Warriors on Dec. 25. The team has not released additional information on how Gordon sustained the injury.

As of now, the 28-year-old is in stable condition and will remain away from the team as he heals, with no timetable for return.

Denver continues to be a powerhouse in the West, holding second place in the conference with a 22-10 record. They’ve won eight of their last 10 and five consecutive games.

Gordon has averaged 13.6 points and 6.9 rebounds through 28 games played this season. He put up a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double on Christmas day as Denver picked up a 120-114 win over Golden State.

The Nuggets return to action without their starting power forward on Thursday when they host the Memphis Grizzlies who have yet to suffer a loss since the return of Ja Morant.
