The Ottawa Senators have signed veteran forward Josh Bailey to a professional tryout contract, the team announced Wednesday.
Bailey, 33, had the final year of his contract bought out by the Chicago Blackhawks who acquired the forward and a second-round pick from the New York Islanders. He had eight goals and 17 assists for 25 points in 64 games.
In 1,057 career NHL games, all with the Islanders, Bailey has 184 goals and 396 assists for 580 points.
The Islanders selected the Bowmanville, Ont. native ninth overall in the 2008 NHL Draft.
