Canadian QB Kurtis Rourke remains sidelined after suffering setback in Week 0

Canadian quarterback Kurtis Rourke did not start for Ohio University against Long Island on Saturday, one week after leaving the team’s season opener with an injury.

Rourke, from Oakville, Ont., was forced to leave Ohio’s NCAA season opener against host San Diego State in the final minutes of the first quarter last weekend after he was sacked on a blitz. The injury was especially concerning as Rourke missed most of last season with a torn ACL he suffered in November.

Earlier in the week, Ohio head coach Tim Albin said that Rourke was “scheduled to go” against the Aztecs. But the team now appears to be playing it safe with its star pivot.

Albin added that Rourke’s current injury was not related to the ACL tear.

C.J. Harris started against Long Island in Rourke’s place.

Rourke is the the younger brother of NFL quarterback and former CFL standout Nathan Rourke.
