Tigers Hinch booed by home crowd after pulling Manning during no-hit bid vs. Blue Jays

Detroit Tigers manager A.J. Hinch made a decision he thought would best help his team win Saturday afternoon, but let’s just say the home crowd disagreed with the move.

With Tigers pitcher Matt Manning six-and-two-third innings through a no-hitter, Hinch decided to pull his starter from the game, ending any chance for Manning to pull off the complete game no-hitter.

The decision was greeted with a chorus of boos from the home crowd, which then turned to cheers of appreciation for Manning’s efforts.

Manning had thrown 91 pitches before exiting.

Jason Foley came into the game for Manning, retiring the first batter he faced to keep the combined no-hit bid in tact for Detroit.

Manning actually had a shaky start to the contest, hitting Bo Bichette and then walking Brandon Belt. But the 25-year-old would settle in from there, allowing just two more walks during the remainder of his outing.
