Tiger-Cats place QB Bo Levi Mitchell on six-game injured list

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have transferred star quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell to the six-game injured list, the team announced hours before Friday’s home opener.

The team also has signed quarterback N’Kosi Perry to give Hamilton three healthy quarterbacks.

Mitchell suffered a lower-body injury last Sunday in a loss to the Toronto Argonauts.

3 Down Nation reports the move allows Mitchell’s per-game earnings of $9,761.11 to not count against the salary cap while he is on the list.

The club announced Tuesday that veteran backup Matthew Shiltz would start Friday’s home opener against the Montreal Alouettes with Mitchell dressed but not available to play.

The Ticats signed the 33-year-old former Calgary Stampeders star to a three-year contract this off-season after Mitchell lost his previous starting job to Jake Maier.

Mitchell had one touchdown and four interceptions in his first two games with the Ticats (0-2)
