One game after receiving two controversial penalties leading to Dallas Stars power-play goals, Minnesota Wild forward Marcus Foligno got a five-minute major and a game misconduct for a knee-on-knee hit with Radek Faksa in Game 5 on Tuesday.
Faksa returned to the ice shortly after taking the hit.
During Sunday’s Game 4 loss, Foligno received interference and tripping penalties that he called “a joke” after the game, going on to add, “it doesn’t make any sense. I go to hit a guy who touches the puck. It’s not interference. I go, I get high-sticked in the face. It’s not a tripping call when you hit a guy clean on. It’s (expletive).”
Foligno’s on-ice actions put the Wild on the penalty kill once again on Tuesday, and for the third time, Tyler Seguin took advantage on the enusing power play.
Foligno has had a polarizing five games, registering 35 penalty minutes and one goal in the series, which was tied at 2-2 entering Tuesday’s game.
