Dwane Casey announced Sunday that he will be transitioning from the Detroit Pistons head coaching position to the front office.
“(Owner) Tom (Gores) is giving me an opportunity to move into the front office. I’m excited to go to the next phase of my life,” Casey said. “Time to spend more time with my family. This team is on the right track. They probably need to hear a new voice. This is my decision.”
The decision comes after the Pistons closed out their 2022-23 season with a 103-81 loss to the Chicago Bulls. The team finished with a league-worst 17-65 record.
Detroit is reportedly eyeing Milwaukee Bucks assistant Charles Lee, Toronto Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin, Ime Udoka, Miami Heat assistant Chris Quinn, among others, as potential head coaching candidates, according to Wojnarowski.
