Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant will miss the NBA’s All-Star Game on Feb. 19 as the superstar recovers from an MCL sprain, sources told TNT’s Chris Haynes.
Durant was injured during a victory in Miami on Jan. 8, when the Heat’s Jimmy Butler fell backward into the 34-year-old’s knee. An MRI exam revealed an isolated sprain in his MCL.
Durant isn’t expected to return to the court until after the All-Star break and Nets’ head coach Jacque Vaughn said there is still no concrete timetable for a return.
The Nets traded away star guard Kyrie Irving and forward Markieff Morris to the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday in exchange for guard Spencer Dinwiddie, forward Dorian Finney-Smith, a 2029 first-round pick and a second-round pick in both 2027 and 2029.
Durant is averaging 29.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists in his 39 appearances during the 2022-23 season.
